Abu Dhabi food authority goes?high tech

ABU DHABI -- The Abu Dhabi Food Control AuthorityAbu Dhabi Food Control AuthorityLoading... (ADFCAADFCALoading...) is using technology to its benefit more than ever.

Part of the efforts are the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), Food Import Management Information System, the setting up of the Abu Dhabi Farmers' Service Centre and the system for registering, coding and numbering cattle.

This was announced by Rashed Mohamed Al Shariqi, Director General, ADFCAADFCALoading..., on the sidelines of the eighth meeting of the food and agriculture body's Scientific Committee.

Held at the Rotana Beach Hotel in the Capital, the meeting reviewed the various food safety and agricultural strategies being implemented in the emirate currently by the Authority.

Apart from the members of the Committee, the meeting was attended by a number of senior officials of ADFCAADFCALoading..., including Al Shariqi, Dr. Maryam Harib Al Yousef, Executive Director, Policy and Legislation Division, Khalifa Al Ali, Executive Director, Strategic Planning Division and Mubarak Al Mansouri, Executive Director, Agricultural Affairs Division.

"The task being currently carried out by ADFCAADFCALoading... is to bring food safety and agricultural practices in the emirate on par with the best anywhere in the world. This is part of the integrated vision of the Government of Abu Dhabi to ensure overall advancement across different sectors and spheres," Al Shariqi said in his opening remarks to the meeting.
