Implementation of Tunisian-Saudi programme of co-operation in matters of farming

TUNIS - Tunisia and Saudi Arabia have agreed to implement their programme of co-operation in the field of farming and adopted a schedule and a follow-up mechanisms for that during a working session held as part of the visit Minister of Farming, Water Resources and Fishing Abdessalem Mansour is paying in Saudi Arabia April 2-6.

The latter agreed notably with Saudi Agriculture Minister Fahd Belghim to take advantage of the two countries' experiences in matters of water desalination and utilisation of treated water for irrigation.

The point is also to establish co-operation and even twinning between centres of research in the fields of palm tree planting, date packaging, fishing and fish-breeding.

The two ministers decided as well to organise partnership seminars in Tunisia during which will be presented the investment opportunities provided in the sectors of farming, food industries, fish farming and fishing in addition to the exchange of expertise in matters of olive oil production, cereal growing and fodder.
