DOHA: The Joint Committee for Monitoring Food Products in its meeting chaired by Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Thani, Public Health Department Manager, rejected imported food consignments for failing to fulfil the standard measures of food products (citric acid, mixed sauce, special flavours, tea and coffee).

The shipments were rejected as expiry dates were printed on the external label which is a violation of Qatar standard specifications. The local specification ban the placement of additional production and expiry labels and the existence of double production and expiry dates in the same packaging.

Coffee and tea shipments manufactured in Portugal were rejected because the production date were not translated into Arabic, in violation to the provisions requiring clear production and expiry dates on the packaging. The Joint Committee for Food Inspection released shipments of Malaysian-made Olin oil, German-made food flavours, Sri Lankan-made multiple flavour tea, jam, Australian frozen meat, 15kg of honey and 15kg of Yemen-made sesame oil.
