GCC officials mull uniform floral health document

KUWAIT -- Undersecretaries of GCC ministries of agriculture convened here Sunday for a preparatory meeting on a possible single Gulf floral health certificate.
They also discussed possible uniform duties on pesticides, fertilizers and agriculture quarantine duty cancellation, Deputy Director General of the Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources Faisal Al-Sedeqi said in news remarks.
They further considered Egypt's request for agricultural cooperation with the GCC member states, together with a draft program for technical cooperation over a credit fund, suggested by Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) among the GCC countries, he added.
Furthermore, the meeting touched upon a single GCC agriculture quarantine bill, the Kuwaiti official pointed out.
Also discussed at the gathering was a report - compiled by a GCC technical team who has recently visited EU member states - on efforts to have the EU ban on GCC animal imports lifted, he said.
Finally, the GCC agricultural officials reflected on a potential fund for fish development and research in the GCC countries, he concluded.
