Agriculture Ministry prevents importing 5 crops

BAGHDAD: The Ministry of Agriculture decided to prevent importing five kinds of vegetables to protect the local product, according to the advisor of the agriculture minister on Tuesday.
"The Ministry issued an order to prevent importing some agricultural crops within the program adopted by the ministry to limit importing crops to protect the local product and to support the Iraqi farmer," Faisal Rashied Nasser told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
"The prevented crops include eggplant, pepper, okra and beans," he explained.
The prevention takes effect during the high production seasons.
